Kopp was a member of the Brahms String Quintet, performing the works of many composers, in the Los Angeles area between 1910 and 1917. In 1933 he was considered by the Milwaukee City Symphony for the post of chief conductor. As he was composing for Cecil B. DeMille's "Sign of the Cross" at this time he did not accept.
