Ryan Barton-Grimley is a producer, writer, and director. He is best known for his work on the television series The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Mindy Project. He has also directed episodes of the series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, and The Last Man on Earth. Barton-Grimley was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) on April 22, 1974. He moved to the United States in the late 1980s and attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in film production. Barton-Grimley began his career in television in the late 1990s, working as a production assistant on the series The X-Files. He then went on to work as a production coordinator on the series The West Wing and as a production manager on the series Arrested Development. In 2006, Barton-Grimley made his directorial debut with an episode of the series The Office. He went on to direct episodes of the series Parks and Recreation, The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, and The Last Man on Earth.
