Sachin Bhowmick is an Indian film writer and director who has worked in the Hindi film industry for over five decades. He is best known for his work in films such as Chhoti Si Baat (1975), Gol Maal (1979), and Chashme Buddoor (1981). Born on 17 July 1930 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, Sachin Bhowmick was the son of a Bengali film director, Nitin Bose. He studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Kolkata and graduated in 1952. Sachin Bhowmick began his career as a scriptwriter in the early 1950s. He wrote the script for the film Chhoti Si Baat (1975), which was a huge success. He then went on to write the script for the hit comedy Gol Maal (1979), which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He also wrote the script for the romantic comedy Chashme Buddoor (1981), which was directed by Sai Paranjpye. Sachin Bhowmick has also directed several films, including the comedy-drama Achanak (1973), the romantic drama Aandhi (1975), and the comedy-drama Chor Ke Ghar Chor (1978). Sachin Bhowmick has won several awards for his work, including the Filmfare Award for Best Story for Chhoti Si Baat (1975), the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay for Gol Maal (1979), and the Filmfare Award for Best Story for Chashme Buddoor (1981).
