Saïd Chibane is a 97-year-old Algerian politician who served as the Prime Minister of Algeria from 1979 to 1984. He was born on April 2, 1925 in Chorfa, French Algeria. Chibane studied law at the University of Algiers and was a professor of law at the University of Constantine. He was a member of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and was elected to the National Assembly in 1962. He was appointed Minister of Justice in 1965 and Minister of the Interior in 1967. In 1979, Chibane was appointed Prime Minister of Algeria and served in that position until 1984. During his tenure, he was responsible for the implementation of the country's economic reforms and the establishment of the National Investment Bank. Chibane is a member of the National Consultative Council and the National Council of the FLN. He is also a member of the International Court of Justice. Chibane is married and has three children. He is a devout Muslim and speaks Arabic, French, and English.
