Sam T. Timer is a former American football coach. He was born on December 22, 1926 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Scranton, where he played football and basketball. After graduating, he served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, Timer returned to Scranton and began his coaching career. He was the head coach at Scranton High School from 1950 to 1956, leading the team to a state championship in 1955. He then moved on to the college ranks, serving as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh from 1957 to 1959. In 1960, Timer was hired as the head coach at the University of Delaware, where he served until 1966. During his tenure, he led the Blue Hens to two Lambert Cup championships and a record of 44-25-2. He was inducted into the University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988. Timer then moved on to the professional ranks, serving as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1967 to 1969. He then returned to college coaching, serving as an assistant at the University of Maryland from 1970 to 1972. Timer is now 84 years old.
