He is also the founder of F-Word Media, a media company that produces books, films, and events. Hicks was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and grew up in the Washington, D.C. area. He attended the University of Virginia, where he studied philosophy and literature. After college, he moved to New York City and began working in the music industry. He later founded Soft Skull Press in 1993, and Vox Pop in 2001. Hicks has written several books, including The Big Wedding: 9/11, the Whistle-Blowers, and the Cover-Up (2006), Slingshot to the Juggernaut: Total Resistance to the Death Machine Means Complete Love of the Truth (2007), and The Death of Money: How the Electronic Economy Has Destabilized the World's Markets and Created Financial Upheaval (2009). He has also produced several films, including The U.S. vs. John Lennon (2006) and The American Ruling Class (2008). Hicks is an outspoken critic of the U.S. government and its policies. He has been a vocal advocate for 9/11 truth and has spoken out against the Iraq War. He is also a proponent of alternative media and has been a guest on numerous radio and television programs.
