Sara Shelton Mann is an American director, choreographer, and dancer. She was born in 1943 in San Francisco, California. She is best known for her work in the avant-garde dance and performance art scene in San Francisco in the 1970s and 1980s. Mann began her career as a dancer in the 1960s, performing with the San Francisco Mime Troupe and the San Francisco Dancers' Workshop. She then went on to found Contraband, an experimental dance company, in 1971. She has since choreographed and directed numerous works for the stage, including the musicals "The Magic Show" and "The Tempest". Mann has also been involved in the film industry, directing the feature film "The Uninvited" in 1988 and the short film "The Last Supper" in 1989. She has also directed several television shows, including "The X-Files" and "The Outer Limits". Mann has been honored with numerous awards, including the Isadora Duncan Dance Award, the San Francisco Bay Guardian Goldie Award, and the San Francisco Dance Film Festival Award.
