She has also appeared in films such as The House of Yes, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, and The Skeleton Twins. Born on July 26, 1981, in Long Island, New York, Burns is the daughter of a teacher and a lawyer. She attended the prestigious Dalton School in Manhattan and graduated from Harvard University in 2003. Burns began her acting career in the early 2000s, appearing in a number of television shows and films. She had a recurring role in the HBO series Enlightened, and has also appeared in The Good Wife, The Newsroom, and The Mindy Project.
