Harris was born on 13 July 1981 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She attended the University of Technology Sydney, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Harris began her career in journalism in 2003, working as a reporter for the Seven Network's Sydney newsroom. She then moved to the Nine Network in 2006, where she worked as a reporter and presenter for the Today show and A Current Affair. In addition to her television work, Harris is a regular contributor to The Australian newspaper and a columnist for The Sunday Telegraph. She is also a regular guest on Sky News Australia's The Bolt Report. Harris is married to former Nine Network executive Mark Calvert. The couple have two children.
