Selmer Bringsjord is an American computer and cognitive scientist. He is currently a professor of cognitive science, computer science, and philosophy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also the director of the Cognitive Science Center at RPI. Bringsjord received his B.A. in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1980, and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. He has held faculty positions at the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Connecticut, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Bringsjord's research focuses on artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and philosophy. He has published numerous books and articles on these topics, including The Logic of Mind (1995), The Robot's Dilemma (1997), and Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Method (2003). Bringsjord is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is also a member of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the International Society for Artificial Life.
