He has been a professor at the Institute of Fine Arts in Dhaka since 1985. Sikder's sculptures are made from a variety of materials, including bronze, stone, wood, and clay. He often uses traditional techniques, such as lost-wax casting, to create his sculptures. His works often feature abstract forms and figures, and he often incorporates elements of nature into his sculptures. Sikder has received numerous awards for his work, including the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award in 1985, the National Award of Bangladesh in 1988, and the Ekushey Padak in 2020. He has also been honored with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, by the Japanese government in 2019.
