Shiv Narain Kureel is a renowned pediatric surgeon and medical academic. He is currently the Director of the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children in New Delhi, India. He is also a professor of pediatric surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Kureel was born in Uttar Pradesh, India, and received his medical degree from the King George Medical College in Lucknow. He then went on to specialize in pediatric surgery at AIIMS. He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Toronto. Kureel has been involved in numerous research projects and has published several papers in the field of pediatric surgery. He has also been a part of several committees and organizations, including the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, and the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology. Kureel has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Padma Shri Award in 2011, the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award in 2012, and the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award for Excellence in Medical Sciences in 2013. He was also awarded the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy National Award for Eminent Medical Person of the Year in 2014.
