Simon Neil is a Scottish musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Biffy Clyro. Neil was born on 31 August 1979 in Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. He attended Greenwood Academy in Irvine. Neil began playing guitar at the age of 11 and formed Biffy Clyro in 1995 with his schoolmates James Johnston and Ben Johnston. The band released their debut album, Blackened Sky, in 2002. Since then, they have released seven studio albums, including their most recent, A Celebration of Endings, in 2020. Neil has also released two solo albums, Woke Up Lonely in 2013 and Modern Earthly in 2020. He has also collaborated with other artists, including The Xcerts, Twin Atlantic, and The Twilight Sad. As of 2021, Simon Neil's net worth is estimated to be roughly $10 million.

Born in Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland, Simon Neil formed Biffy Clyro in 1995 at 15 years old recruiting Kilmarnock-born James Johnston and someone known only as Barry on bass and drums respectively, calling themselves Skrewfish. Barry was soon replaced by Ben Johnston, James's twin brother, and Biffy Clyro was effectively formed. In 1997, the trio moved to Glasgow, where Neil studied Electronics with Music at the University of Glasgow. He also Studied Film and TV for a year before leaving to pursue music full-time. By then, Simon's musical tastes had expanded; In 2000, the band were spotted at the Unsigned Bands stage at T in the Park by a Beggars Banquet representative. Soon after, the band was signed to the independent Beggar's Banquet.
