She is one of the most successful and influential singers in the Chinese music industry. Sun was born on 23 July 1978 in Singapore. She attended Nanyang Primary School and Raffles Girls' Secondary School. She graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in English Literature. Sun began her singing career in 2000 with the release of her debut album, Yan Zi. She has since released 10 studio albums, including My Desired Happiness (2002), Stefanie (2003), Against the Light (2005), and Kepler (2016). She has also released several live albums and compilations. Sun has won numerous awards throughout her career, including the Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Female Singer in 2003 and the Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Album in 2005. She has also been nominated for the Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Album in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Sun is married to Nadim Van Der Ros, a Dutch entrepreneur. The couple have two children.
