Askew began playing guitar at the age of 12 and was influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and The Who. He joined Kajagoogoo in 1981 and was the lead guitarist for the band until they disbanded in 1984. Askew has released several solo albums, including "The Askew View" (1995), "The Askew Sessions" (1998), and "The Askew Project" (2003).
