Rome was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1953. He attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. After college, he worked in the banking industry before founding Rome Capital Group in 1989. The foundation has provided grants to organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the American Red Cross, and the United Way.
