In August 2021, Kapur was elected the president of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India. Prior to this, he has been the Chairman of the Electric Mobility and Sustainable Development Committees at ACMA.

2017

Kapur is also a member of the National Council of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and served as the Co-Chair of the Smart Manufacturing Committee from 2017 to 2020. Kapur was appointed the Chairman of the CII Haryana State Council for the 2020 to 2021 term.

Kapur is married to Priya Sachdev. The two tied the knot in New York in 2017 and have a son Azarias, born in 2018. Kapur developed a keen interest for the equestrian sport of polo in 2004. His passion for polo led him to incept his own team – Sona Polo. Kapur is the captain of the team and Sona Polo is counted amongst the top professional playing teams in India. Kapur also plays the professional circuit in England each summer and his team has won several tournaments under his captaincy in India, USA, and the UK.

1991

Kapur started his career with a training stint at BMW in Munich. In 1991, he took a summer job at TRW Koyo, Tennessee to gain industry-specific knowledge. Thereafter, in 1996 he joined the Sona Group as part of the human resources department of Sona Koyo Steering Ltd. He set up Sona e-Design for conversion of 2D to 3D design (data migration) and gradually rose through the ranks to become the managing director of Sona Sonic Lemforder Co. in 2003. Kapur also began Sixt – a car rentals company, taking up the India franchise under Sona Mobility Services Ltd in 2005. He was the MD & CEO of Sixt and oversaw its expansion to five locations in India. In 2008, as the vice chairman and MD of Sona Koyo Steering System Ltd., he worked towards enriching manpower capital resources in a health-conscious environment.
