She is the author of four collections of poetry, including The Sun-Fish (1991), The Parchment Boat (1995), The Brazen Serpent (2000), and The Lost Land (2005). She has also published a novel, The Sea-Dreamers (2006). Connolly has won numerous awards for her work, including the Patrick Kavanagh Award, the Hennessy Literary Award, and the Lawrence O'Shaughnessy Award for Poetry. She has also been shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Irish Times Poetry Now Award. Connolly has taught creative writing at Trinity College Dublin and the University of East Anglia.
