Syahrul Yasin Limpo is a prominent Indonesian politician who has served as the Governor of South Sulawesi since 2013. He was born on 16 March 1955 in Makassar, Indonesia. He is a member of the Golkar Party and has held various positions in the party since the 1980s. Limpo graduated from the University of Hasanuddin in Makassar in 1979 with a degree in economics. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in economics from the University of Indonesia in Jakarta. Limpo began his political career in the 1980s, when he was elected as a member of the Golkar Party's Central Executive Board. He then went on to serve as the Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party in South Sulawesi from 1989 to 1993. In 1993, Limpo was elected as the Governor of South Sulawesi. He was re-elected in 1998 and again in 2003. In 2013, he was re-elected for a fourth term as Governor of South Sulawesi. Limpo is married to Siti Nurhayati and has three children. He is a devout Muslim and is known for his commitment to social justice and development in South Sulawesi.
