Sydney F. Wise is a Canadian historian and professor emeritus at the University of Toronto. He was born on 14 November 1924 in Toronto, Canada. He is 83 years old. Wise received his B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1945 and his M.A. in 1947. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. from the University of London in 1951. Wise has written extensively on Canadian history, particularly on the history of the Canadian West. He is the author of several books, including The French-Canadian Heritage in North America (1973), The French-Canadian Idea of Confederation (1984), and The French-Canadian Idea of Nationhood (1994). Wise has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Order of Canada in 1995 and the Governor General's Award for Non-Fiction in 1996. Wise is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. He currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
