T. B. Jayasundera was a Sri Lankan politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2001. He was born on 4 May 1927 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was educated at Royal College, Colombo and the University of Ceylon. He began his political career in 1956 when he was elected to the House of Representatives. He served as the Minister of Finance from 1977 to 1978 and as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1978 to 1989. He was appointed Prime Minister in 2000 and served until 2001. He was also a diplomat, serving as Sri Lanka's Ambassador to the United States from 1989 to 1993 and as Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1993 to 2000. T. B. Jayasundera was married to his wife, Chandra, and had two children. He passed away on 28 April 2021 at the age of 96.
