Thet Tun was a Burmese politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Burma from 1974 to 1977. He was born in Yangon, Myanmar, on 6 August 1926. He was educated at the University of Rangoon and the London School of Economics. Thet Tun was a member of the Burma Socialist Programme Party and served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1962 to 1974. He was appointed Prime Minister in 1974 and served until 1977. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the establishment of diplomatic relations with China and the United States. Thet Tun was a strong advocate of non-alignment and was a key figure in the Non-Aligned Movement. He was also a strong supporter of the United Nations and was a member of the UN Security Council from 1974 to 1977. Thet Tun was married to Khin May Than and had two children. He passed away on 28 April 2013 at the age of 86. Thet Tun had an estimated net worth of $2 million at the time of his death. He earned his wealth through his career in politics and diplomacy.
