Thomas Whatley is an American sprinter who was born on March 23, 1953 in the United States. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the 4x400 meter relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, and a bronze medal in the 4x400 meter relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Whatley attended the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the track and field team. He was a three-time All-American in the 400 meters, and was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that won the NCAA championship in 1975. Whatley is currently the head coach of the track and field team at the University of Tennessee. He has been the head coach since 1997, and has led the team to numerous conference championships and NCAA appearances. Whatley is married to his wife, Mary, and has two children.
