Tom Bailey is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead singer and bassist of the pop band Thompson Twins. He has also released several solo albums and collaborated with other artists. Bailey was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, on 18 January 1956. He attended the University of Leeds, where he studied music and drama. Bailey's career began in the late 1970s when he formed the band Thompson Twins with Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway. The band released several successful albums and singles, including "Hold Me Now" and "Doctor! Doctor!" Bailey left the band in 1983 to pursue a solo career. In the mid-1980s, Bailey released his first solo album, Science Fiction, which featured the hit single "Love Is a Stranger". He followed this up with a second solo album, The Time of My Life, in 1989. In the 1990s, Bailey collaborated with other artists, including the Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and the Spice Girls. He also released several solo albums, including the critically acclaimed album, Science Fiction. In the 2000s, Bailey continued to collaborate with other artists, including the Sugababes and the Scissor Sisters. He also released several solo albums, including the album, Science Fiction. Bailey is currently working on a new solo album, which is due for release in 2021.
