Tony DeZuniga is a Filipino comic book artist and writer. He is best known for his work on DC Comics' Jonah Hex and Black Orchid, and for co-creating the character of the same name. He has also worked on Marvel Comics' Conan the Barbarian and The Savage Sword of Conan. DeZuniga was born in the Philippines in 1932. He studied at the University of Santo Tomas and the University of the Philippines. He began his career in comics in the late 1960s, working for DC Comics on titles such as The Witching Hour and House of Mystery. In 1971, DeZuniga co-created the character of Jonah Hex with writer John Albano. The character was an instant hit and DeZuniga's art style was praised for its gritty realism. He continued to work on the title until 1985. In the 1980s, DeZuniga worked on Marvel Comics' Conan the Barbarian and The Savage Sword of Conan. He also worked on DC Comics' Black Orchid and The Sandman. DeZuniga has received numerous awards for his work, including the Inkpot Award in 1982 and the National Cartoonists Society's Comic Book Division Award in 1985.
