Torkel Andreas Trønnes was born on 17 March, 1925 in Norway. He was a Norwegian politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1971 to 1972. He was a member of the Norwegian Labour Party. Trønnes was educated at the University of Oslo, where he graduated with a degree in law in 1950. He then worked as a lawyer in Oslo from 1951 to 1954. Trønnes was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1954, and served as a Member of Parliament until 1971. During this time, he held various positions in the government, including Minister of Justice from 1965 to 1971. In 1971, Trønnes was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until 1972. He was also a member of the Norwegian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly from 1971 to 1972. Trønnes was also a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1973 to 1979. Trønnes died on 28 April, 2021 at the age of 98.
