Turgay Erdener is a Turkish businessman and politician who has served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey since 2018. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). Erdener was born in Gümüşhane, Turkey, on 15 June 1957. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University in 1979. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in economics at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Erdener began his career in the public sector in 1982, when he joined the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). He rose through the ranks and was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TPAO in 2006. In 2018, Erdener was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey. He is also a member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). Erdener is married and has two children. He is estimated to have a net worth of around $1.5 billion.
