Václav Vích was a Czech cinematographer and actor. He was born in Karlsbad, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic). He began his career as a cinematographer in the 1920s, working on films such as The White Hell of Pitz Palu (1929) and The Last Laugh (1924). He also acted in several films, including The Last Laugh and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933). Vích was a pioneer in the use of color cinematography, and was one of the first cinematographers to use the three-strip Technicolor process. He was also a pioneer in the use of special effects, and was one of the first to use the traveling matte process. Vích was a member of the Czechoslovakian Cinematographers' Association, and was awarded the Czechoslovakian State Prize for Cinematography in 1948. He died in Prague in 1965.
