Vaso Abashidze was a Georgian theater actor and director. He was born in Dusheti, Georgia, on 4 December 1854. He was the son of a priest and was educated at the Tiflis Theological Seminary. He began his career as an actor in 1876, and soon became one of the most popular actors in the country. He was known for his powerful and emotional performances, and was considered one of the best actors of his time. In 1883, Abashidze founded the first professional theater in Georgia, the Tiflis Theater. He was the director of the theater until his death in 1895. He also wrote several plays, including "The Robber's Daughter" and "The King's Daughter". Abashidze was a major influence on the development of Georgian theater. He was a pioneer in the use of naturalistic acting techniques, and was one of the first to introduce the use of music and dance in theater.
