Vedat Dalokay is a Turkish architect and urban planner. He is best known for his design of the Ankara Central Station, which was completed in 1962. He has also designed several other notable buildings in Turkey, including the Ankara Hilton Hotel, the Ankara Intercontinental Hotel, and the Ankara Atatürk Cultural Center. Dalokay was born in Elazığ, Turkey, in 1927. He studied architecture at the Istanbul Technical University, graduating in 1951. He then went on to study urban planning at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his master's degree in 1954. Dalokay has been involved in numerous projects in Turkey, including the design of the Ankara Central Station, the Ankara Hilton Hotel, the Ankara Intercontinental Hotel, and the Ankara Atatürk Cultural Center. He has also designed several other buildings in Turkey, including the Ankara International Airport, the Ankara University of Technology, and the Ankara State Conservatory. Dalokay has received numerous awards for his work, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1980, the Turkish Grand National Assembly Medal of Honor in 1982, and the Turkish Grand National Assembly Medal of Honor in 1984. He was also awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Ankara" in 1985. Dalokay is currently a professor at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. He is also a member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
