Verne Nobles is an American writer, producer, and director. He is best known for his work on the television series The Waltons, which he wrote and produced from 1972 to 1981. He also wrote and produced the television movie The Homecoming: A Christmas Story, which served as the pilot for The Waltons. Nobles was born in 1938 in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in English. After college, he began working in the television industry, writing for shows such as The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Wild Wild West. In 1972, Nobles wrote and produced the television movie The Homecoming: A Christmas Story, which served as the pilot for The Waltons. He went on to write and produce the show for the next nine years, earning two Emmy Awards for his work. In addition to his work on The Waltons, Nobles wrote and produced the television movie The Thanksgiving Promise, which served as the pilot for the spin-off series The Homecoming. He also wrote and produced the television movie The Homecoming Reunion: A Waltons Easter Story. Nobles has also written and produced several other television movies, including The Miracle of Kathy Miller, The Gift of Love: A Christmas Story, and The Christmas Secret. In 1984, he was asked to join Louie L'Amour Enterprises' production company and formed Aces and Eights working with his, then business and creative partner, Beau L'Amour They co-produced Louie L'Amour's (Iron Marshal) Shaneseeshaughnessy in 1996. He adapted L'Amours' short stories for Bantam Books as well as creating screenplays for TV and feature films.

1983

While on loan to Columbia, he co-produced Louie L'Amour's Shadow Riders in 1983. After selling his production company, the Pegasus Group, he returned to his love of art and writing.

1979

In 1979 he returned to 20th Century-Fox to write, produce and direct political projects for the studio and for Jack Valenti of the Motion Picture Association of America. He was assigned to the Feature Division and wrote, produced and directed "The Incredible 20th Century. " He co-wrote and directed President Ford's Detroit Convention speech and directed a special project for President Carter.

1971

In 1971 he sold his company and joined forces with one of advertising's top commercial production companies as a Producer-Director.

1959

In 1959 he came to Warner Brothers and 20th Century-Fox where he would set his life's creative path as a director's trainee under some of the top directors of the time. He eventually became a Cameraman-Director and then returned to Detroit as Executive Producer for Werthman and Faulkner Productions.

After Art and Design school his professional career begin as a Commercial Artist in Detroit Michigan. In 1957 it became obvious that he not only had a strong artistic design sense, but a firm understanding of business management.
