He is best known for his works for piano, including the Piano Sonata No. 1, the Piano Sonata No. 2, and the Piano Sonata No. 3. Bentzon was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 7 October 1938. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he graduated in 1962. He then went on to study composition with Vagn Holmboe at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Bentzon has composed over 200 works for piano, orchestra, chamber music, and vocal music. His works have been performed by the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. He has also composed works for solo instruments, including the Piano Sonata No. 1, the Piano Sonata No. 2, and the Piano Sonata No. 3. Bentzon has received numerous awards and honors, including the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1965, the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1967, and the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1969. He was also awarded the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1971, the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1973, and the Danish Music Critics' Prize in 1975. Bentzon is currently 83 years old.
