Vilma Cecilia Morales is a Honduran politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras from 2014 to 2018. She was the first woman to hold the position. Morales was born in Puerto Cortés, Honduras, on 15 October 1954. She studied law at the National Autonomous University of Honduras, graduating in 1979. She then went on to pursue a master's degree in international law at the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in France. Morales began her career in the Honduran Foreign Service in 1982, serving in various diplomatic posts in the United States, Mexico, and France. She was appointed as the Honduran Ambassador to France in 2002, and served in that position until 2006. In 2014, Morales was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, becoming the first woman to hold the position. She served in this role until 2018. Morales is a member of the Liberal Party of Honduras. She is married and has two children.
