Viswanathan Raghunathan is an Indian CEO, academic, author, and columnist. He is the current CEO of the Indian IT services company, Wipro Technologies. He has also served as the Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). Raghunathan was born in Ambala, India, on 19 September 1954. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Madras, and a Master of Science degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Raghunathan began his career in the IT industry in 1979, when he joined Wipro Technologies as a software engineer. He rose through the ranks to become the CEO of the company in 2000. During his tenure, he has been credited with transforming Wipro into a global IT services provider. Raghunathan has also served as the Chairman of NASSCOM, the apex body of the Indian IT industry. He has also served as a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry, and the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. Raghunathan is the author of several books, including ‘The Power of IT: Transforming Business and Society’, ‘The Power of IT: Transforming Business and Society’, and ‘The Power of IT: Transforming Business and Society’.
