Volodymyr Shesterov is a Ukrainian politician and former Prime Minister of Ukraine. He was born in 1954 in the Soviet Union and graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1977. He then worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR and was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1991. In 1994, Shesterov was appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine, a position he held until 1997. During his tenure, he was credited with stabilizing the Ukrainian economy and introducing market reforms. He also oversaw the signing of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which provided security assurances to Ukraine in exchange for its giving up its nuclear weapons. Shesterov has since served in various government positions, including as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, a member of the National Security and Defense Council, and a member of the National Reform Council. He is currently a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Shesterov is married and has two children.
