William H. Ahmanson is an American executive who was born on October 12, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. He is the son of Howard F. Ahmanson, Sr., the founder of Home Savings of America. He attended Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1947. Ahmanson began his career in banking in 1948, when he joined Home Savings of America as a loan officer. He rose through the ranks to become president and chief executive officer in 1965. He served in this role until his retirement in 1990. Ahmanson has served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the California Institute of Technology, the California Community Foundation, and the Ahmanson Foundation. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. As of 2021, William H. Ahmanson's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1.2 billion.
