Wilmont Sweeney is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1949 to 1954. He was born on November 19, 1925 in Austin, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a two-time All-American. Sweeney was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets in the 1949 NBA draft and played for the Bullets for four seasons. He was traded to the Milwaukee Hawks in 1953 and played for the Hawks for one season before retiring in 1954. Sweeney was a two-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 1951. He averaged 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in his career. Sweeney was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 1975. He passed away on April 15, 2020 at the age of 94. At the time of his death, Sweeney was the oldest living former NBA player.
