Yevgeniy Anikin is a former Soviet athlete who competed in the men's decathlon at the 1980 Summer Olympics. He was born on 13 March 1958 in Soviet. Anikin won the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, setting a new world record of 8,634 points. He also won the silver medal in the decathlon at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki. Anikin was a member of the Soviet national team from 1977 to 1984. He was coached by Viktor Kuznetsov. Anikin retired from athletics in 1984 and became a coach. He is currently the head coach of the Russian national decathlon team. Anikin is married and has two children. He currently resides in Moscow, Russia.
