Yoshihisa Okumura is a Japanese engineer who was born in 1926. He is best known for his work in the field of radio engineering, particularly in the development of the Okumura-Hata model for predicting radio wave propagation in the atmosphere. He is also credited with the invention of the Okumura-Hata antenna, which is widely used in radio communication systems. Okumura graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then went on to work for the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, where he developed the Okumura-Hata model. He also worked for the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). Okumura has received numerous awards for his work, including the Order of the Sacred Treasure from the Japanese government in 1998. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Japan Society of Applied Physics. As of 2021, Yoshihisa Okumura is 97 years old.
