Yury Grigorovich is a Russian dancer, choreographer, and ballet director. He was born on 2 January 1927 in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now Saint Petersburg, Russia). He is best known for his work with the Bolshoi Ballet, where he served as artistic director from 1964 to 1995. Grigorovich began his career as a dancer with the Kirov Ballet in 1945. He was promoted to principal dancer in 1953 and began choreographing in 1956. He created his first full-length ballet, Spartacus, in 1968. He was appointed artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet in 1964 and held the position until 1995. During his tenure, he created a number of ballets, including The Legend of Love, Ivan the Terrible, and The Stone Flower. Grigorovich has been awarded numerous honors, including the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour, and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. He is currently the artistic director of the Yury Grigorovich Ballet Theatre in Moscow. As of 2021, Yury Grigorovich's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
