Zaw Myint Maung is a Burmese politician and physician who has served as the Minister of Health and Sports since 2016. He was born on 11 December 1951 in Amarapura, Myanmar. He graduated from the Institute of Medicine, Yangon in 1975 and obtained a Master of Science degree in public health from the University of London in 1988. He began his political career in 1988 when he was elected to the Pyithu Hluttaw, the lower house of the Burmese Parliament. He was re-elected in 1990 and served as a Member of Parliament until 2010. In 2011, he was appointed as the Minister of Health and Sports in the government of President Thein Sein. He was re-appointed to the same position in 2016. Zaw Myint Maung is married and has two children. His net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
