Zekarias Yohannes was educated at the Imperial College of Ethiopia and the University of London. He was a member of the Ethiopian Imperial Guard and served in the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. Zekarias Yohannes was a prominent figure in Ethiopian politics and served as Prime Minister from 1974 to 1977. He was a strong advocate for the rights of the Ethiopian people and was instrumental in the establishment of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). Zekarias Yohannes was married to Woizero Ejigayehu and had four children. He passed away on 28 April, 1997 at the age of 91.
