Zion Levy was born to a Jewish family in Jerusalem, British Mandate of Palestine. He was the eldest of three children. He attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and graduated with a degree in law. After graduating, he worked as a lawyer in the British Mandate of Palestine. In 1948, Levy was one of the founders of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). He served as a Major in the IDF and was a member of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations. He was also a member of the Israeli delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1949. Levy was a member of the Knesset from 1949 to 1951 and from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of the Mapai party and served as Minister of Justice from 1955 to 1959. He was also a member of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency. Levy was a strong advocate for the rights of the Jewish people and was a leader in the struggle for the establishment of the State of Israel. He was also a leader in the struggle for the recognition of the State of Israel by the international community. Levy passed away on April 15, 2008 at the age of 83. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
